Seminars
Seminars detailing the techiques covered in our videos are available by reservation. They can be of any duration you request but typically are 1 1/2 to 2 days in length.

Virtually any climbing gym works for both parts of the seminar. The clinic can be done outdoors in good weather as long as the venue is safe from rockfall and has 5 anchors.

The most popular format is two consecutive days (Friday night and Saturday or Saturday night and a Sunday).

The evening session consists of viewing the video pertinent to the seminar, a demo of a selected technique, followed by a question and answer session.

The clinic the following day is hands-on. Each participant will have multiple opportunities to practice selected techniques on the ground. The maximum ratio for the day clinic is 10:1. Larger groups may be accomodated with an additional instructor.

For extensive hands on training in the techniques from the videos contact the
American Climbing Institute.

Our seminars are taught by
Alan Jolley of the American Climbing Institute. He has been rock guiding for more than 20 years and in 1988 he was instrumental in creating and implementing the national guide training program currently in use by the American Mountain Guides Association. In 1990 he was field examined and certified as an AMGA Level II Rock Guide, the highest rock guide certification.

Many of the techniques popularized in how to climbing books and magazines as well as technical systems taught by guides today in the US were devised by Alan. He has trained and certified hundreds of aspiring rock guides and continues to introduce climbers and guides of all experience levels to the tricks of the trade.
